The Hackney South Labour Women’s Forum organises a range of activities to encourage women from diverse backgrounds to join Labour and then to make the jump from members to activists and leaders. It is coordinated by our Women’s Officer Midnight Ross and Mary Shannon. They also work to ensure that issues which are particularly important to women are integrated into our work. In the past year, they held meetings to contribute to Labour’s Women’s Conference and on access to maternity care for refugee and migrant women and supporting survivors of domestic abuse. They also took part in the Women’s Strike on International Women’s Day.
